A galactic survival horror game
Level Zero: Extraction is an incredibly immersive action game that takes you on a chilling adventure where a group of scientists has been left to fend for themselves as monsters have begun to attack their facility. In this futuristic title from DogHowl Games, you will have to rely on light to help guide the way and ward off terrifying creatures.
As a survival-horror game, Level Zero: Extraction will require you to scour the space facility and the foreign planet’s environment for resources and to complete tasks. Similar titles include The Forest and Granny.
Two ways to play
What makes Level Zero: Extraction so unique is that players have the opportunity to play as either the scientists or the creatures attacking the facility. The gameplay for these two also allows you to enjoy the game in different ways. As a creature, you will be able to take advantage of the darkness that surrounds the facility while also making use of telepathic and other special abilities.
However, as a human, you will need to rely on light sources to scare off the monsters. You’ll also be able to equip your character with a variety of skins and other tools that you can switch out at any time. You’ll also have to complete different quests in order to restore electricity in the facility and find a way to call for help back home.
Don’t worry about failing as you can respawn as a drone that will be able to help out your fellow scientists in a number of different ways. All of this is presented in a stunning 3D format with lifelike physics that allows you to immerse yourself in the game fully. Just make sure to have a 64-bit processor and operating system and a steady internet connection to run the game.
Open beta launch and some gameplay changes
For a limited period and exclusively accessible to a certain number of players, Level Zero: Extraction has launched an open beta. This event gives the potential player base a small taste of what to expect in the full version of the game, along with a handful of tweaks that may or may not be here to stay. Headlining these changes are shiny new weapons, including pistols, machine guns, and submachine guns.
Changes to the attributes of the Aliens have been implemented as well. These tweaks include ‘Acid Cloud,’ which allows them to hurl acid cloud-inducing eggs that burst on impact and slow Mercs down, a nerfed energy system that applies cooldowns on their abilities, and increased potency of the ‘Slime Spit’ and ‘Screamwave’ skills. On the other hand, new enemy type Mutants has been introduced.
Besides that, in-game events have been added, too. In ‘Airdrop,’ a loot crate spawns and drops outside the research station at any random point in the match. Meanwhile, an ‘Alarm Crate’ can be found and activated in the Warehouse, and it takes three in-game minutes before it opens to dispense loot. Notifications for both events are displayed on the map. Finally, ‘Data Transfer’ rewards players who find and extract data from laptops.
Of course, there are also general quality-of-life adjustments and changes. Now, players can access Contracts via the menu and the map. They can then pick up items to sell to the vendors at the location, earning them valuable REP and rewards. Moreover, localization to some languages and new server regions US West, Asia East, and Australia East have been added, expanding the game’s overall accessibility.
Is the light your enemy or foe?
Overall, Level Zero: Extraction presents a unique way for users to enjoy the game as either the predators or the survivors. With visually appealing graphics and an immersive atmosphere, this heart-stopping game truly makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of the setting. However, make sure to take note of the specific system requirements to prevent any issues when running the game.
